All of the Times

                                                                                      L: Steve Davidson

He sits, reading the paper

Lights a cigarette and pours some wine.

He reads and think about Myrtle

Then about his wife and all of the times

(That) They've sat in total silence

Wond'ring if she knows he's lying.

When he says:

[chorus]

"I love you, I always will

You're the sole one for me still.

Of you I could never get my fill.

If I had to to be with you I'd kill..."

She sits, knitting his black socks

Not noticing she sewed the toe shut.

She knits and thinks about her Jay

Then about her man and all of the times

(That) They've sat in total silence

Wond'ring if he knows she is lying.

When she says:

chorus

He stirs and sets down his goblet.

Ice has melted; no more troub'ling whine.

He sets down his cigarette

Sees no more smokes and no more buts.

She stirs and sets down the not-done socks.

Sees no more string and no more sole.

[bridge]

"What'd you do today?"

"Went and saw a play."

"I had lunch with Ray."

"Thought he's away."

"Where'd you go, did you say?

"Cause I saw you with that Jay."

"What're you tryin to say?

"I know you wern't with Ray.

"Cause if you were you wouldn't've paid for two..."

chorus

They sit, watching a movie.

Eating popcorn and drinking a pop.

He looks and thinks he sees Daisy.

Thinks about his wife and all the bad times.

They stare at the big screen.

Eating Skittles and drinking a pop.

She turns and thinks she sees Tommy.

Thinks about her man and all the bad times
